Writing

Written
Ramblings
This area
contains short stories, as well as writing and market resource
information,
plus some sites tossed in just for inspiration. It's is far better
organized
than my actual work area, but then you could probably already guess
that. Fiction I write
purely for fun. That and my friends compliments keep my ego a healthy
size.
I truly hope you enjoy what I've placed here, and if you can offer
constructive
criticism, I'm more than willing to listen, er, read.
Miranda's
stories are an ongoing project, a series of short shorts that focus on
mood and atmosphere as well as the action. Actually, there was only
supposed
to be the one story, but then I started getting threats from my friends
that there had better be more...
* While Walking Home at Midnight
- the very first Miranda story.
* The Dark Stranger -
wherein Miranda "dies".
* Miranda's Choice - of
death or undeath.
* First Feeding - Miranda
satisfies the "Call of Blood".
The
Aeterna is another project my mind has been toying with. I'm
thinking
that perhaps one of these years, when I get around to writing that
novel,
this might be the characters I use.
Ravenscar
is a shared world mailing list possessing some rather eccentric
characters,
and I'm not referring to the story characters. It's a small mailing
list
of dark fantasy and horror that grew off of the Vampires mailing
list.
And you don't have to be a writer to join. Go on, check out the city.
It's
perfectly safe. Just beware the vampires, ghosts, demons, and other
assorted
denizens of the night... maybe you best visit in the daylight. Speaking
of ghosts, you can read one of my contributions to Ravenscar without
ever
braving the dark city: "Divine Visions."
References and Resources:
* The Virtual Reference Desk - Like having an reference librarian
in your computer!
* Journal of
the Dark - Lovely resource site for those interested in vampires
and such. Unfortunately, the Journal folded a few years ago, but the
owner
left the site up for us
junkies! This is a wonderful place to begin wonderful folklore and
mythology research on the topic.
Art
I've
become quite the little artiste, in an artsy-craftsy sort of way, which
has been quite fun. I guess that's what happens when you marry a
former art major. About four years ago I started making books,
initially in an effort to give folks some nice Christmas
presents. I'm still making them...and still giving them as gifts. I've
also started making necklaces out of the books. And then there is the
altered art, which I've really just started doing and the Artist
Trading Cards, which are really quite addicting. Here are some links
for websites that are inspiration, instructive, and otherwise useful,
as well as links for some pages showing my art. I've included links for
to images of my partners in crime as well. Hope you enjoy!
